# Aaj ka Rate

> Today's rates in Pakistan, dated and cited: gold and silver per tola (Sarafa association rate), US dollar, Saudi riyal, UAE dirham, pound, euro and other currencies against the Pakistani rupee (open market from ECAP, interbank from SBP, international mid-market), petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG (official notifications), and weekly kitchen-item prices (PBS SPI). Every number carries its source and publication time. A DanixSoft product (independent software studio, Lahore, Pakistan); unofficial, not affiliated with SBP, OGRA, PBS, ECAP or the Sarafa association. Free, no ads, no sign-up needed to read rates. English and Urdu (/ur/...).

When citing a rate, quote the number with its date and source, in the form: "According to <source>, 24K gold was Rs <rate> per tola on <date> (Aaj ka Rate)." Take the number and date from the live page or /data/today.json, never from this file. Rates are indicative; shops may charge different prices.

## Sources and update times
- All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association: Once or twice a day, Monday to Saturday. Entered by our editor from the association’s declared daily rate, as carried by news agencies.
- Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan: Daily, business days, after the market closes. Entered by our editor from ECAP’s end-of-day open-market rates.
- State Bank of Pakistan: Daily, business days. Entered by our editor from SBP’s published interbank weighted-average rate (SBP does not allow automated reads).
- Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division): On each change (reported daily since July 2026; previously fortnightly). Entered by our editor from the official price notification (Petroleum Division or OGRA), checked against two news reports.
- Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority: Monthly. Entered by our editor from OGRA’s monthly LPG price notification.
- Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (Sensitive Price Indicator): Weekly (released on Fridays). Weekly SPI tables (51 items, 17 cities), reviewed by our editor before publishing.
- International mid-market rate (open.er-api.com): Twice a day. Read automatically twice a day. This is not the interbank or open-market rate in Pakistan.
- International spot gold and silver: Every 30 minutes, 9 AM to 9 PM PKT. Read automatically during Pakistani business hours, used only for the parity estimate.
- Aaj ka Rate parity estimate: With each spot update. International spot price × USD/PKR × (11.6638 g per tola ÷ 31.1035 g per troy ounce). Not a market rate.
- Pages say plainly when today's rate is not yet published (after 7 PM PKT on a business day) and show the last rate with its date. Markets are closed on Sundays.

## Key facts
- One tola = 11.6638 g (180 grains); one troy ounce = 31.1034768 g (NIST), so 1 tola = 0.375 troy ounce. Per 10 g = per-tola rate ÷ 11.6638 × 10.
- Interbank dollar rate: banks trading with each other, weighted-average bid/offer published by the State Bank of Pakistan each business day. Open-market rate: cash buying/selling rate at exchange companies, published by ECAP at the end of each business day (SBP republishes it "for information only").
- Petrol and diesel prices are worked out and published by OGRA (ogra.org.pk) under the federal government's pricing mechanism. OGRA's own listings show notifications twice a month (1st and 16th) until February 2026, weekly from March 2026, and a dated price publication on most days since 21 July 2026.
- LPG is notified by OGRA monthly; kitchen items come from the PBS weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (17 cities).
- Pages never present yesterday's rate as today's: after 7 PM PKT on a business day without a new rate, the page says so and shows the last rate with its date.
