How it works
Gold and silver are valued at today’s Sarafa rate. 22K, 21K and 18K gold are valued by purity against the 24K rate, which is what a jeweller would pay before deductions. Nothing you type leaves your phone. For anything unusual (business partnerships, long-term debts, pension funds) please ask a scholar.

What is nisab?
Nisab is the minimum wealth on which zakat is due: the value of 52.5 tola of silver or 7.5 tola of gold. For mixed wealth (cash plus gold, for example) the Hanafi school usually applies the silver nisab, which is lower and so includes more people; this calculator starts there and lets you switch.
How much is zakat?
2.5% of zakatable wealth held for a full lunar year, after debts due now.
Is my personal jewellery zakatable?
In the Hanafi school, yes: gold and silver jewellery is counted. Other schools differ for jewellery in regular use. Ask your scholar if unsure.
